Stuck on "Installing Final Updates" Screen on Roku Device

When I  turn on the ROKU television, a message appears stating "Installing final updates."  The circle of death turns for some unreasonable length of time and then the screen message states that the set cannot connect to the WiFi.  It then tells me how to go about connecting and all of that before asking me to restart the TV,  After taking all appropriate steps and restarting--something I am very familiar with and with which I have never had a problem--I am returned to the first screen stating the set is installing final updates.  And just for giggles, despite the message and the circle of death's best efforts, the message also states that 0% progress has been made on the supposed installation.

Has anyone encountered this?  Can anyone help me?  Please?

Thanks so much,

CNMoore

    Hi there! CNMoore

We noticed that you're stuck on an update message on your Roku device. We'd like to take a closer look at this issue. Have you seen an error code number on your TV screen?

In the meantime, try using a different internet connection, such as a mobile hotspot, to see if there's any difference. For more tips on Roku device problem updates, visit here

  • Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.  There is no number on the message.

I have continued to research the issue.  It appears to have surfaced several times in the past,  some people are to reconnect simply by rebooting the system.  One person changed his settings from "wireless" to "wired" and said the " updates" finished very quickly.  Other than those instances, I was unable to find anyone else with a solution.

      Thanks for the update! CNMoore

If your Roku device supports Ethernet, connect a standard Ethernet cable from your router to the device for a faster, more reliable connection. Also, could you let us know which Roku device you're using and whether this is your first time setting it up?

      Looking forward to your reply!

  • My device supports the ethernet but that is not how I solved the problem.  I reset the television to its factory settings and started from scratch.  Everything cleared up as I went through the normal setup.  The only real hassle was re-opening all of my streaming channel accounts (usernames, passwords, and such).  The point is, it worked.  More important, it is still working.  Hope this helps anyone else faced with the same problem.
