TV goes black for about 5 seconds when I start a video

When I begin playing a video, whether it be in FloSports, YouTube, or anything else, the TV goes black, and the audio starts playing before I can see the video. I’m using an Apple TV 4K with a TCL Roku TV, and I’m assuming it’s an issue with the Roku, so I figured I’d ask here. (Hopefully this isn’t a rule 7 violation) I was using ARC, but then I turned it off and the problem continued. Any ideas?

Re: TV goes black for about 5 seconds when I start a video

It may be Frame Rate Matching (FRM) or similar. Basically, instead of your AppleTV always sending a fixed 1080p60 or similar, it will vary the frame rate to match the original. That can cause a few seconds of black video while the TV resyncs for the new frame rate. Not familiar with AppleTV devices, so not sure where that setting would be. Maybe somebody here might have an answer.
