TCL Roku TV with Yamaha YAS-209 soundbar

TCL 65R635 Roku TV software 11.5.0 build 4235-88 with Yamaha YAS-209 connected to HDMI 4. eArc and CEC worked flawlessly until the last few weeks. Only change was software upgraded on 10/28/2022. TV recognizes YAS-209 as eArc and CEC ( settings>TV inputs, settings>system>Control Other Devices CRC) but no control of soundbar through TV any longer. First attempt to rectify was restart of TV. No help. Second step was implementing protocol of unplugging all, power tv, plugging soundbar to HDMI4, powering soundbar. No help. Any others experiencing same?

Re: TCL Roku TV with Yamaha YAS-209 soundbar

My situation is a bit different.  I have a Roku streaming stick.  The TV does not pass the sound from the input to the sound bar.  Other inputs pass.  The TV is Vizio, soundbar is YAS-209.

Re: TCL Roku TV with Yamaha YAS-209 soundbar

Hi @mister2putt

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

If you're having trouble getting the sound to pass from your Roku streaming stick to your soundbar, there are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue:

  • Check the audio output settings on your Roku device: Make sure the audio output settings on your Roku device are properly configured to output sound to the soundbar. To do this, go to Settings > Audio > HDMI > Audio mode, and select "Auto".
  • Check the audio input settings on your soundbar: Make sure the audio input on your soundbar is properly configured to receive sound from your TV's HDMI input. Consult your soundbar's user manual for instructions on how to do this.
  • Try a different HDMI input on your TV: If your TV has multiple HDMI inputs, try connecting your Roku stick to a different input to see if the issue is with the TV's HDMI input.
  • Try a different HDMI cable: A faulty HDMI cable can cause issues with audio and video transmission. Try using a different HDMI cable to connect your Roku device to your TV.
  • Check for firmware updates: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your Roku device and your soundbar. Updating to the latest firmware version may help resolve any compatibility issues.

We hope it helps!

Warm regards,
Lianna
