I have a TCL tv and just bought a tcl soundbar for it. It’s connected to the television via hdmi 3 arc and it’s playing sound without an issue. But when I select the device on the home screen it always shows the there is “no signal - is it on” message even when the volume indicates the soundbar is on and is currently the active playing audio.

My devices aren’t coming up as options on the drop down list but this is what I’m using.

TCL 43S425-CA 4K Ultra HD Smart LED Television (2019), 43” #tcl43s425-ca

TCL S Class 3.1 Channel Sound Bar with DTS Virtual:X, Built-in Center Channel Speaker, and Wireless Subwoofer - S4310-CA #tcls4310-ca

Re: Soundbar device/app on home screen shows no signal even though it is playi

Hi, @Brevityiswit Welcome to the Roku Community!

Thank you for bringing your audio setup concerns regarding your Roku device to our attention. We are here to assist you.

The audio formats being output from your Roku TV should align with the capabilities of your soundbar. While your Roku TV is usually set to automatically detect these audio options, you have the option to manually configure it to ensure that only the formats compatible with your soundbar are utilized.

Use the steps below to access settings and select an audio mode.

  1. Press the Home button on your Roku TV remote.
  2. Scroll up or down and select Settings.
  3. Select System, followed by Audio.
  4. Select S/PDIF and ARC and make a selection.
    • Auto detect - This is the default setting that allows your Roku TV to automatically detect the capabilities of your soundbar over the HDMI connection.
    • Auto passthrough - Delivers unmodified Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, or DTS audio when available with the movie or TV show and when your Roku TV detects that your soundbar supports the audio format.

Note: The Auto passthrough setting allows a soundbar with appropriate capabilities to play content without any delay due to processing in the TV. When Auto passthrough is enabled, audio formats that are not supported by the soundbar may be converted to stereo sound (PCM) to keep any processing delay to a minimum.

Hope this helps!

Thanks,
Jharra
