My TCL Roku has reliably been working for a few years until it was prompted to auto update today.
Now it is continuously crashing on the home screen. I don’t think it’s able to fully update without crashing.
There’s no way to go to settings, clear the cache or any of the other suggested solutions.
Hi @Radishwrangler,
Thanks for posting, and welcome to the Roku Community!
We're sorry to hear about the trouble you've experienced. This might have been caused by an incomplete or disrupted software update. have you tried unplugging for a minute and plugging it again to see how it works? In addition, could you please send us an image or a video referring to the issue you've mentioned with us?
We would appreciate your response.
All the best,
Kash
Thank you for the quick response.
I have tried all of the above steps.
A couple of times it got to the updating channel stage and crashed midway.
Upon the fourth try, it got through the channel update and promptly crashed again.
I am trying it one more time. I can send a video of what the cycle looks like but where? I didn’t see a way to upload it here.
Thanks for keeping us posted @Radishwrangler,
In this case, we recommend performing a factory reset that will clear everything to your Roku TV, and you'll be able to update it successfully after resetting it. Kindly be reminded that factory resetting your Roku TV will delete all channels, settings, and will need to reactivate your Roku TV once again. For more information on how to factory reset your device, kindly refer to this support article at this link: How do I factory reset my Roku® streaming device?
Please provide us with updates on what you find out.
All the best,
Kash

My TCL ROKU TV is doing the same, if it did an update it must have done it on it's own.
Have you gotten any resolution by doing those things recommended?
Thanks, Terri
Thank you for the link, you made my day.
