Still no updates on this? Brand new Hisense. Has IP, Ethernet, won’t update. Says an update is available. Error 004 internal error.
tried a manual update. Still fails.
This is a TV a with built in ROKU. No microSDs to remove.
was there any answers? It won’t work on wifi, or hotspot, or Ethernet (even though I see it connected).

This is the answer for anyone still looking for this.
Error Code 004, can't update, HISENSE or TCL TVs not updating but connecting to the internet.
I had done the following JUST in case.
1) Downloaded the newest software onto a USB
- tvupdate.roku.com
2) Did the reset (held down for 20+ seconds)
3) Since I was hardwired in (suggested) it auto updated
4) once complete, it worked perfectly.
Really frustrating it took 24 hours to find and fix. But it's done.
I had the same problem with a new Hisense; downloaded to a usb and still failed at the last step: put in 6 digit response code and gets: software update failed. Please try again.

I’m having the exact same issue. I can get out of recovery mode using a USB update. But then when I try to connect to a network (wireless or wired), it can’t update (error 004). Please help.
