Roku Stick installed on outdoor TV (humidity) shuts off TV randomly

I have had my Roku stick for about 4 years.  The one giving me problems is installed outside, on our lanai - outside in the Florida humidity.  I start the device as always, but within 10 minutes, it shuts the TV off.  I removed the Roku stick and was able to air play something on the TV without shutting off - so I have narrowed it down to the stick.  I swapped it out for the Roku stick in the bedroom, and it solved the problem for awhile, but now the second device is having the same problem.  The Roku stick in the great room, works flawlessly.  When I turn it back on, it lasts for several minutes, then shuts off again, and again and again.  Any options other than buy a new stick?

How are you powering the stick? Are you using it's own supply, or trying to use the TV USB port?

Re: Roku Stick installed on outdoor TV (humidity) shuts off TV randomly

Running Roku's off a TV's USB port is NEVER recommended. They are typically limited to 500mA (0.5A), and the devices often need more. It may have worked for awhile, but either the stick is slowly needing more power, or the TV is no longer able to output enough power, or both. If you don't have the original supply, any standard USB power adapter rated at 1A or more should work.
