I upgraded from Roku 3 to Roku Express 4k and I no longer get Dolby Digital 5.1 sound from my receiver.
Here's my setup: Roku connected to Vizio tv via HDMI Vizio TV connected to Onkyo receiver via optical.
my TV is capable of transcoding dolby digital plus to just dolby digital.
This setup works fine with the Roku 3, but does not work with the express 4k.
Volume leveling is off and also the audio settings are same on both the Roku players. Only difference I noticed was that in the Roku 3 settings there was an option to select "Audio mode" with "Stereo" and "DD+" options. The Roku Express 4k does not have this option.
Any thoughts how I can get DD 5.1 audio through the express 4k, which I was getting with the Roku 3?

We appreciate you reaching out for support and for elaborating your concern precisely. No worries! We're here to be of assistance.
We suggest connecting your Roku Express 4K directly to the receiver which itself goes to your TV instead of through the TV back to the receiver and let us know if this makes any difference.
We'll be anticipating your response!
