Roku Deletes scanned antenna channels while I am watching and turn off

I have a TCL ROKU 32 inch TV for my office ,The antenna scan function just does not work. as it should. It will not maintain the antenna channels once the TV is powered off.  It is very consistent.  This is a manufacturing defect or more likely a software defect that wipes the scan for any antenna channels once the power is turned off.  I have to rescan every time I time i turn on the TV in the morning  and when ever i turn it off during the day.  This is not operator error or i that don't know how to scan a channel it just a real and sever defect in this TV.  I would not recommend buying a TCL ROKU TV.  IT works fine for the normal netfllcks, disney prime apps just not for the antenna channels which i watch more than the other apps. I can believe they are unwilling to do a software fix for this issue.  Dont buy this product. unless you love to be frustrated on a daily basis.

Re: Roku Deletes scanned antenna channels while I am watching and turn off

Hi @JHRTV2023,

A warm welcome here in the Roku Community!
We understand you're having a problem with your antenna channels. We're happy to assist you further. Please try to see if the live TV channel tile is visible on your home screen. If visible, try to select that one and try to see if the local channels that you wanted to watch are there.

Please keep us posted on what you find out.

Best regards,

John

He'll find out the same as all of us: Roku is broken for live-OTA TV channels, and have no response to the problem.

Hi @Down8 and @Ramona5450,

Thanks for reaching out to us here in the Roku Community!

Please be advised that there is an input named Live TV by default. If you want to access your local channels without scanning it over and over again, just go to Settings > TV Inputs > Manage Channels > Rename and then rename this Live TV input to "Antenna" or whatever you please. If it still is not showing on your home screen, go back to Settings > TV Inputs, scroll down to Inputs Not Being Used, and select Setup Input. Please note that it is labeled as Live TV by default. Whenever you want to watch your antenna, over-the-Air, or local channels, make sure you select on your home screen the Antenna input or whatever you renamed it to. Do not select Live TV from the left-side menu because that is for streaming channels only.

We hope this helps.

Kind regards,

Eunice

Re: Roku Deletes scanned antenna channels while I am watching and turn off

@RokuEuniceL  I don't have that problem, but the last time I scanned my OTA channels, it erased all my Favorites! I added some back, did another scan, it again, it erased them all. Not wanting to spend the time adding every channel again, only to have them vanish, I waited a couple weeks. This time, I added them back, but as of yet haven't done a scan, which helps improve the reception. However, today, before I did that, I saw a new screen asking if I wanted to reset all my settings, or wipe everything clean, etc. neither option being what I want, nor what a scan should be doing! What's with this? Do you mean I can't scan my antenna input channels without it making changes to all my settings? This is very confusing, and it's not clear at all as to what these options are. This change only happened in the last couple weeks, so it's a brand new change, just one that's far too ambiguous.

How are you adding channels back? I'm scanning for channels but it doesn't show the 15 that disappeared.  I've tried everything they have said to do on here n some of my own ideas. Been at this hours! Lost all the cartoon channels and my 5 yr old granddaughter isn't happy! Guess try to sell this to someone that streams and buy another TV.  Definitely not a Roku! Ugh..

Lost part of them in August and the rest today!?!?

Re: Roku Deletes scanned antenna channels while I am watching and turn off

@MandyFox So sorry to hear granddaughter lost all her cartoon channels! I didn't lose any actual channels, only in the sense that none no longer remained in my Favorites list. I've been able to re-select them, but haven't risked doing a scan, since that's what caused them to vanish before.
If you aren't seeing some channels from your antenna, that could be due to placement of your antenna, or even weather conditions, depending upon where you are in relation to the broadcasting towers. I've done some scans where a couple key network stations were missing, but that's due to your antenna not able to receive them, at the time of your scan.

I'd try placing your antenna in different places, including the cable that connects it, as that is part of your antenna as well. Do more scans, until those missing channels once again appear. I doubt their disappearance is caused by anything having to do with Roku, as what channels your antenna picks up, is on the antenna to accomplish. Hope you can find them again!

Re: Roku Deletes scanned antenna channels while I am watching and turn off

It's Roku trying to get you to allow them to see what you are watching on your antenna channels. I just went through this got all my antenna channels back then refused Roku from seeing my antenna channels and the removed them again. Time to get rid of Roku TV.

I did that..followed your directions perfectly and the tv STILL deletes all my favorite antennae channels. MOST aggrevating.
