I have a pop-up menu on the left side of the screen. How do I turn that off

I would say your TV is in store/demo mode. Some people have said they've found a setting buried somewhere in the Settings menus to turn it off, but it usually requires a factory reset. After it resets there should be the option to set it up for home use.

What's in this menu? If it looks like it's advertising your TV's features, then your TV was probably set up for store/demo mode. If has things like picture and audio settings then it's brought up by pressing * on your remote.
If it doesn't look like either of those, a picture would help.
