Please tell me I'm just missing a setting somewhere because my new Roku TV looks absolutely awful with this setting turned on. I really don't want to have to take this back because of this but I might have to.

Not all TVs have settings for that, especially budget level TVs like Hisense.  I suggest reaching out to Hisense Tech support and asking them.
