Just purchased the Roku 55" Smart TV. I have an existing Directv acount. Probably a dumb question, but am I able to connect via USB versus having to stream account?
Hi @pbottom23,
Thanks for posting, and welcome to the Roku Community!
We understand you are inquiring about connecting DirecTV to stream via USB on your Roku TV.
Please be aware that you cannot connect your existing DirecTV account to a Roku TV via USB; you must stream your DirecTV content through the DirecTV app on your Roku by accessing it through your existing account details, as a Roku TV does not have the capability to directly read a DirecTV signal from a USB connection.
Hence, you can stream it with your existing DirecTV account on a Roku TV. You need to download the "DirecTV Stream" app on your Roku and then sign in with your existing DirecTV account credentials. This allows you to access your live TV channels and on-demand content directly on your Roku TV.
Additionally, a Roku TV's USB port is primarily used to play media files (like videos, photos, and music) stored on a USB drive, not to access a live TV service like DirecTV.
Visit our Support article for more information on using a USB drive with Roku Media Player.
We hope this information helps.
All the best,
Chel
