Channel numbers changed. 252525252525.

Why have the channel numbers all changed and why is there no “sort channel list” on my channel options menu?

Hi @firestick4,

Welcome, and thanks for posting to the Roku Community!

We understand that you have concerns with channel numbers. If you are referring this to the channel number setting in the Live TV Guide, follow these steps:

  • Navigate to the Channel logos in your Live TV guide.
  • Press the button to open the Channel Options menu.

  • Select the "Sort channel list" setting

  • Select "By Channel Number".

    • By default, this setting is "As recommended by Roku," which removes channel numbers from the Guide display.

By default, this setting is "As recommended by Roku," which removes channel numbers from the Guide display. If you prefer the channel numbers to be displayed in sequential order, select "By Channel Number."

When you choose "By Channel Number."

  • The TV guide will refresh and display channels sequentially using Channel numbers in ascending order.

When you choose "As recommended by Roku."

  • The TV guide uses machine learning to personalize your TV viewing experience. It rearranges channel orders based on your viewing history and preferences. The algorithm learns from your interactions to prioritize channels you will likely enjoy.

You can change these modes in the settings menu at any time. If you want to try a different approach or go back to the traditional sequential listing, you can revisit the settings and make your choice.

All the best,
Chel

@RokuJechealR
That's a good explanation of how to sort them, but doesn't answer the actual question.
Why are the numbers of the channels different than they used to be?? So that even when we have them in numerical order, we still have to scroll & scroll to find their new homes.
So basically, even using the numerical option, they are STILL sorted by Roku, but do retain their channel numbers. And I can't see why anyone would believe that even if Roku's algorithms put them in an order of how often we view them, how removing the channel numbers would in any way better facilitate our navigating the hundreds of channels...
