Why does HBO Max keep crashing on Roku?

HBO Max repeatedly crashes on my TVs. I’ve tried reinstalling the app on both but there doesn’t seem to be any improvement. Any troubleshooting tips for this?

Re: HBOMAX keeps crashing

After removing a channel, best practice is to clear the Roku's memory by restarting it before reinstalling the channel. Did you do this?

Restart via Settings > System > System restart (for Roku TVs: Settings > System > Power > System restart)

Re: Why does HBO Max keep crashing on Roku?

HBO should be ashamed of this app. I have a Sharp Roku TV. Every other app works fine. Netflix, Peacock, Prime Video. No problems. Just now, once again, HBO Max didn't just crash, it shut my tv off & it took five minutes to get it to work again. I have taken to watching HBO Max content on my 15 inch Chromebook. Garbage app.

@Bob_in_Cali

Did you...

  1. Remove the app
  2. Reboot the Roku
  3. Reinstall the app

All three steps in that order? If not, do those three steps (1, 2, 3) and see if the app now works.
