I purchased the Roku Express 4K+ a few weeks ago and subscribed to 'Skin O Max' for $1.99 a month. Even though the picture quality was sub-par I enjoyed this channel during several viewings in February. 'Skin O Max' features a lot of older R-rated films and several Russ Meyer classics.
Now when I try to launch it get "Channel Inactive - The channel requires purchase for activation. Select 'Purchase' to visit the Channel Store to purchase this channel." I cannot, for the life of me, get this channel to operate.
I am unfamiliar with this Channel, but have you tried re-installing it from the online Roku Channel Store. (https://channelstore.roku.com/details/3a7cf30fe2fd6f40302e1d8e9a59b6d9/skin-o-max#!)
I actually think it may be a defunct channel or maybe it is just having some issues. If you go to the online Roku Channel Store, and click on the Privacy Policy under the Developer CordCutters Media, you get a 404 Page Not Found error, but does have a phone number and email address for StreamGoMedia. (distributer of the content)
Incidentally, they also have another Channel (Skin A Max) https://channelstore.roku.com/details/304673f1499b476be0fb418b151a94bc/skin-a-max which is definitely a different channel/content, same developer CordCutters Media, and the Privacy Policy link goes to same company.
Normal procedure when having issue with a Channel is to Remove Channel, perform a System Restart of the Roku device, and then Reinstall the Channel.
I doubt it is anything you are doing wrong. Most likely a Channel issue or content distribution issue.
I did remove the channel and re-purchased it a couple of days ago, but it sent me in the same loop of frustration. Maybe I'll try the system restart you recommend and see what happens. Thanks!
I did a complete system restore and added the channel again. Still getting the same message regarding channel being inactive after I agreed to pay the $1.99 per month. This is frustrating.
Hi @Montresor
Thanks for reaching out here in the Community.
If you are still unable to play videos from one channel after attempting the suggestions posted by @AvsGunnar above, videos from other channels play fine, contact the channel provider's customer support team to report the issue and get help.
Channels on Roku are maintained by the channel developer themselves. In this case, there's likely an issue within that specific channel that needs to be addressed with an update from them.
We appreciate your understanding.
All the best,
Kariza
Looking for skin OMax ultra can't find in app store or scearching
Hello @Bill777
Thanks for the post.
For more information about that channel's functionality and availability in our platform, you'll want to contact the channel's customer support team to inquire further. Many channels on Roku are developed and maintained by the channel provider themselves.
All the best,
Kariza
I did some research and discovered that Roku won't allow any porn related sites as of March 1st unless they are in Beta mode with around 20 subscribers. Skin O Max consisted of R rated exploitation films while Ultra featured X rated material. It doesn't make sense to me, but that's what the article stated, or words to that effect. I'd link to the article, but I can't find it anymore.
I just finally bought a Roku after checking just weeks ago that the R18com private channel was still there, but couldn't add it until I had the hardware. By the time I got it, my ONLY reason for wanting it is gone! I'd been intending to get one for a while, since they said it was supported, so I could actually watch my JAV library in the full original quality. And direct some of the money to the girls and the work I support instead of just being a chump for Hollywood, all the money going to whatever drivel they spent too much on.
It was a neat solution so that sex-haters wouldn't get triggered and go on a crusade against them by showing it publicly in the store, but perfectly legal businesses still had a place outside the piracy world. Now R18 is gonna be hurting from this, it just pushes people away from supporting their work and toward piracy, since Japanese industries demand DRM on paid video, so now there's no easy living room device that can verify you own the video. Most people hate DRM so much they won't consider paying for it, on top of the hassle to watch it in good presentation if you do. The prudes won't mind harming the girls of course, their “protecting” is just an excuse to violate others' will, punishing people for being sexual.
But what do I expect? Now even racism is totally cool as long as it's against Russians.
Yeah, this was an unsatisfactory experience. I didn't purchase Roku to subscribe to Skin O Max, but to get a connection to ESPN+. A friend told me there were pornographic channels available so I subscribed to Skin O Max as I'm a fan of Russ Meyer films and the like (low budget R films). This isn't really porn and I'm surprised it was bounced from the platform.
Skin O Max Ultra has hardcore porn according to my friend. Skin O Max was only $1.99 a month while the Ultra version was $9.99 a month.
It's my bad luck that I was only able to enjoy this channel for a few weeks. If I'd known it was going to be killed I'd have binge watched everything on there.
