I'm running a Roku Express 3700 and I frequently experience the same issues when playing videos from a saved playlist (both mine and those curated by others) as well as playing videos directly from the creator's Youtube channel. What happens is that after about 10 minutes or so, interacting via Roku will remove all video feed, info etc. from the video except for the red, grey, and white progress bar.
Other features that occur include:
-Recommended videos from below the video display only thumbnail
-Going back to the Youtube Home screen also only displays thumbnails only (no titles)
-The circle indicating how far into the video disappears
-Scrolling through recommended videos stops displaying new thumbnails after loading a few
Fortunately, the issue has always been temporarily resolved until I try playlists/channels again. It's very annoying that this happens, which is why I'm writing about it now.
Hi @alsol
Thanks for the post.
Does the issue only occur on YouTube or across other channels installed on your Roku device?
If you haven't tried yet, you can remove the affected channel and then re-install it. To ensure the process is successful, make sure to restart your device before adding the channel back in. We would recommend doing this from the Settings menu by navigating to Settings > System > Power (If you do not see a Power submenu, skip to the next step.) > System restart.
For detailed instructions, refer to this Support link: How do I resolve channel playback issues?
Let us know if there's any difference after.
All the best,
Kariza
Hi Kariza,
At the moment the issue is only affecting Youtube. I will let you know what happens after I reinstall the app on my Roku.
Thanks
Hi again Kariza,
Unfortunately, after removing Youtube, restarting the system, and re-installing Youtube from my device, I have still had the same issue occasionally. As for now, it should be useable enough for me, but if there's anything else I can do that might work, please let me know.
Thanks
Hello @alsol
Thanks for the update!
If the issue persists from one channel after attempting the suggestions above, videos from other channels play fine, contact the channel provider's customer support team to report the issue and get help.
Channels on Roku are maintained by the channel developer themselves. In this case, there's likely an issue within that specific channel that needs to be addressed with an update from them.
You can reach them here: YouTube Help
Hope this helps!
