Anjeli,
One moderator's answer to this question was that we should reach out to Movieland TV directly. That might be useful if you provided any kind of contact information for Movieland TV. If they have contact information listed online, they hide it very well.
I've had multiple channels playing hide-and-seek this year (switching between available and not available), but Movieland TV is the most important one.
Some people talking about this in other places are under the impression that Movieland TV is actually owned/operated by Roku.
In any case, I'm one of many Roku users that is very unhappy that access to this channel is gone AGAIN. Please work with them to restore access.
Oh, and stop those annoying Home Screen ads in the lower left corner of the screen! We hate those!
Thanks.
I'm upset about it too I had a lot of great movies on there and there all gone 😔 I'm not happy about it. It makes me mad 😡 because of greedy people ruin everything for everyone else they to bring it back to Roku TV and let it on
What happened to movieland tv
They were providing content without legal permission, so it was removed. Simple as that. Roku cannot permit streaming that doesn't have the proper permissions.
Roku will never publicly provide an explanation, so theories are all we have.
There's only two reasons channels are removed. One is the provider pulls it themselves or asks Roku to do so. The other is because of violation of the Terms of Service, which includes streaming content without permission. Either way, Roku isn't going to say anything.
I agree that is puzzling. Perhaps they submitted the channel through different people, trying to disguise who they are. Whatever the reason, it was presented as a legitimate streaming site and it was found it wasn't.
As noted before, they probably LIED about fixing violations, then were caught and removed again
I'm now Muting this topic on my feed because it's not relevant anymore
Removal of Channels is because of copyright violation is the most common line. However, Roku has lied to its customers multiple times.
Many channels that were removed were not for copyright reasons but rather Roku had an axe to grind.
Some of these channels were labeled as adult content/ Porn. Yet, that explanation was extremely dishonest. Yes, there were porn channels and like most porn found anywhere they violated copyright laws because no one can find the copyright owner on older content pre 2000s to pay the fee unless the owner publishes their name and address which they did not do. Just a truth no one wants to admit. However, there were NC 17 channels too. The content of the NC 17 channels were no different than the content found right now on existing Roku Channels like Netflix, Showtime and HBO! They were also pay channels and they were not copyright violators. I subscribed to one of those channels because the movies there were decent though they did have nudity and violence which made them NC 17. Roku is a hypocrite, a liar and a fascist violator in the USA by getting rid of content solely because of some arbitrary criteria while allowing same level of content on other channels who admit to paying the bribe to Roku to leave their channel alone. (See Showtime and Movie channel press releases) It's more indicative of pay to play action at Roku than anything else. The FBI and the FCC should look into Roku actions as pay to play schemes are RICO type of crimes that Roku has been engaging in!
@Animegod that may be your take on the matter, but personally I think you're way off base. Thinking this could somehow fall under RICO is simply nonsense. Roku has a terms of use contract with any authorized content provider. If they breach the terms of that contract, the channel is removed.
