Re: IP Camera Viewer Basic and Pro, fresh out of the oven (ONVIF, RTSP coming soon)

The version 5.0 of the application was submitted to the channel store.

New features:

  • The new version can be configured to start directly to a specific camera or split screen
  • Split screen was added to the screen saver
  • Support for External Control Protocol (ECP) to start directly to the camera view you'll like
  • Backup will save and restore all the settings of the application, not just the cameras

What can ECP be used for with the application? Making a video doorbell that turns your tv on, to the camera you want, for example. Make sure the read the help for more information.

Thank you, the ECP control is awesome!!!!

Also, the split screen in the screen saver was a nice surprise, I like it!

I have been using IP Camera Viewer - Pro for about 9 months now with my Lorex NVR.

Can it be that the NVR is configured to record when detecting movement? Is it possible to disable the motion detection, just for testing and then see if you have the same problem? Also, please check if the motion detection is enabled in the IP Camera Viewer.

Yes I have motion detection for this camera enabled in the NVR and sure enough if I disable it the problem goes away! I did 5+ tests enabled (all produced badly repeating video)  and 5+ tests disabled (no repeating).
So, what does this mean? Like I said, Firefox and the Lorex PC software don't have the repeating issue, so that tells me it's not the video content in the stream that's repeating. I can only assume there is some metadata or frame numbering that IP Camera Viewer is interpreting differently.  But what do you think?
If you want me to somehow capture a suspect stream with some tool (can I?) and send it your way, I'll gladly assist.
Thanks so much for thinking about this!

Re: IP Camera Viewer Basic and Pro, fresh out of the oven (ONVIF, RTSP coming soon)

Hello,

I have struggled to get a connection to a Reolink 520 camera. Works fine on my android camera app, and in my HomeAssistant. I have learned that HomeAssistant can provide a streaming link through motionEye. Have you had any experience configuring with motionEye acting as a "nvr"? It can support streaming, which should provide the jpg images you require for Roku, assuming Reolink cant natively function in this capacity...

Thanks.

Any idea there will be support available for Wyze cams with IP Camera Viewer roku app?

Thanks

The application only supports jpeg encoded streams. If your camera has only h264 streams and it's onvif complaint, you will need extra hardware to use it, see more details here: https://github.com/e1ioan/rokuphp

I’m able to get this to run with all 4 of my Foscam cameras in the snapshot mode, but I can’t get the app to run on the pi to get H264 running.  My cameras are updating the snapshots about every 1-2 seconds, so it’s still worth the $5, but I’d love to be able to run the H264 live.  I have 4 different models, HT2, R2, FI9803 and G2.

H264 is not supported by the application directly, you'll need extra hardware. Please see details here:

https://github.com/e1ioan/rokuphp

Also, in h264 mode, split scree doesn't work (Roku limitation). Roku can only play one h264 video at the time.

Re: IP Camera Viewer Basic and Pro, fresh out of the oven (ONVIF, RTSP coming soon)

I recently purchased two editions of your IP Cam Viewer Pro and they perform RTSP streaming quite well on my four Wyze V2 cams thru my two Fire TV Stick TVs. I'll have to say that setup was fairly easy but a beginner cam user may have found it a bit complicated though not impossible.

Yesterday I purchased the Roku version of IP Cam Viewer Pro and am now learning after the fact that Wyze (or any RTSP) only works if you jump thru all the Raspberry Pi hoops and setup needed to make that happen. My bad, as I didn't read all the Roku/IP Cam Viewer documentation first.

My question now is, are there enhancements in the works that will allow Wyze RTSP to run natively thru Roku (like it works with Fire TV Stick) without all the hassle of mastering the Linux world of Raspberry Pi? Even on Pi I apparently only get one cam view instead of multiple cams.  Thanks in advance for comments and help.
