@auntronnie Your Roku is very old and needs to be updated to version 10 or higher. According to HBO they only support Roku devices running firmware 10 or higher. You said your running 9.4. If you cannot update your Roku then you will need to upgrade it.
I'm having the same issues. Was working fine last night, but today nothing but a black screen and sometimes 3 white dots after I hit play. It eventually will start playing with a black screen with sound and the following message:
Close HBO Max
Timed out while waiting on cache-iad-kcgs7200064-IAD
