FXNOW, is it free to watch?
Cable-type channels like FX want to be paid. When you have a paid subscription to a provider service that carries these channels, they receive their pay out of the subscription fees you pay that provider. When you don't have a subscription to such a provider you are not paying for those channels.
Many cable-type channels have "TV Anywhere" streaming apps that can be installed on streaming devices like Roku which will grant you access if you can log in with credentials from a TV provider as indicated above. Some may have limited free content but require logging in with your TV provider credentials for full access. FX's TV Anywhere app is called FXNOW.
Your TV provider doesn't have to be a bloated cable or satellite subscription. There are also several paid streaming services you can subscribe to and view on Roku that carry cable-type channels, such as Fubo, Sling, Hulu + Live TV, YouYube TV, etc.
There are several places on the net where you can look up which providers carry a particular channel of interest. Here are a couple such pages:
https://thestreamable.com/channels
https://www.groundedreason.com/cord-cutting/tv-streaming/how-to-stream-by-channel/
Savings in cord cutting usually come from picking and choosing which of the lesser offerings you wish to pay for instead of paying for full blown cable or satellite services with scores of channels you never watch.
Hi @Chickenladytwo,
Thanks for reaching out to us regarding this inquiry. We are happy to assist.
To watch the full content of FX Now, you'll need to authenticate against a content provider, such as a cable, satellite, or streaming service. Watching free previews is free. However, it's always a good idea to set up a PIN here to prevent accidental charges to your Roku Pay account.
Let us know if you have further inquiries.
Regards,
Janadee
