My shows do the same thing. It happens on my Roku TV, my computer, and both of my Fire stick TV’s using the app. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the apps and tried logging out and back in with all of them. So far it’s the same. ☹️

Before proceeding, may we know which specific app you were having this issue with? In the meantime, to disable automatic skipping to the next episode on your Roku, navigate to the Settings of the specific streaming app you're currently using and press the star (*) option, as the option to turn off autoplay usually resides within the app Settings.
Typically, you'll find a toggle switch labeled "autoplay next episode" or something similar you can disable.
However, if you are streaming via The Roku Channel, here's how to change the auto-play video setting on your Roku streaming device.

As noted, we don't know what app you are talking about. If possible, disable any "autoplay next episode" option. Also, even with autoplay, there is usually a popup a few seconds before, and it usually should have some form of CANCEL button you can click.
