I suspect it was removed because it was FREE, no ads. And many of the older B&W movie content on Cinema Box were royalty free, copyright free, and often can be found FREE on Youtube. Just like OTA tv, free is not a good thing for them so away it goes. I suggest searching on Youtube for classic movies or vintage movies or you can search for a specific movie if you know the name and it very likely will be there. However, free YouTube is not add free, they do insert their own ads. Just be glad we can still take a breath of air while thats still free.

There can be many reasons. The company may be out of business. The content may violate copyright (just because it old doesn't mean it's free to distribute.)

Movieland has also shut down. Not certain if they were the same developer. Movieland was removed and restored multiple times. Originally, the movies available were suspicious and almost certain copyright violations. The last I check, it looked to be mostly unknown movies.

This is not helpful, what happened and is Roku looking to restore the channel?

@Walk500miles, @andyross gave the best answer you're going to get here, but if you want the official Roku response:

Why is a channel no longer available on my Roku® streaming device? | Official Roku Support

I would bet a lot of money that it was a DMCA Takedown.

And again, Roku can't do anything if the developer pulls the app, or shuts down and cannot be contacted. If it was pulled due to copyright issues, the company would need to prove they have removed all violations before Roku will let them back in the store.

Because all of the apps like Prime, Netflix, Peacock, Disney, etc....who are all greedy as **bleep**, that have commercials, pay to view, and/or subscriptions, have some of the same movies as Cinema Box, but that you have to pay for in order to watch them. I'm can pretty much assure you that all those big streaming companies, **bleep**ed and threatened ROKU, to remove it, complaining that Cinema Box offered those movies for free, that they want to charge the consumers for, and of course that just won't do !!!....even though Cinema Box wasn't making a single penny from making all those old movies available to the public !!!!

ROKU and all of their corporate whores are responsible for killing Cinema Box, once again....so us older generation customers can't watch all those movies that most of their younger streaming customers couldn't care less about...

Thanks ROKU....YOU SUCK ONCE AGAIN !!
