As of October 4, 2023 - almost two years since this topic was opened, the Chess School is still NOT operational.
As far as I can tell, ROKU still offers the channel - as this thread can attest, but - still - provides NO Help / explanation here as to why the Chess School channel doesn't work.
I wish the Chess School channel could / would be restored, but if not I would ask a ROKU representative to explain to ROKU users why a channel that doesn't work is still being made available to 'open'.

Thank you for the [very!] prompt reply. Yes, my Chess School channel says it is up to date.
When a Chess School channel program is clicked on, it initially cycles appearing to be looking for an app to access and play the video, but in a couple seconds, fails to do so, returning the user back to the main page thumbnail links.
This is easy to confirm by ROKU support.
As the Chess School channel provides no information whatsover outlining 'how to use', subscription-fee-to-use or other, etc., this appears to be a ROKU channel incompatibility issue?
Hi @datamiser,
Thank you for keeping us updated!
You seem to have taken a ton of fantastic troubleshooting steps. No worries! We are happy to assist you further. Please try these troubleshooting steps below:
Please keep us posted if the issue still continues.
All the best,
John
Thank you for both your prompt reply and for not giving up on this issue too!
Alas, followed your instructions to the letter and still no working videos.
I will note that when choosing to remove Chess School, it is described as an "app" as in
"Remove app".
This again, perhaps, suggests that Chess School's "app" is not compatible with ROKU / requires a compatible video player that is not being loaded by default.
I have tried to search the internet to locate the official "Chess School Channel" website. Unfortunately, the Chess School Channel, only seems linked / associated with ROKU.
Q) Can a ROKU moderator (or ROKU VIP) please, confirm whether or not The Chess School programs / videos actually work at ROKU's end? Such a confirmation would go along ways to confirm additional troubleshooting might yet prove hopeful.
Thank you, again, for trouble-shooting this a little further before giving up.
@datamiser, Chess School is a "Direct Publisher" channel/app. It seems many of them have stopped working, but they're all going away within a few months. From the Channel Store , the "developer" is "C Point Pty Ltd". Their privacy policy link leads to this contact page which doesn't mention "C Point Pty Ltd":
https://showmetelevision.com/contact-us/
A search for "C Point Pty Ltd" may lead to more information.
Thank you! for providing some much appreciated detail and clarity.
A ROKU work-around is to open YouTube TV in ROKU, search for "Chess School". The home page looks identical to the Chess School app.
A key difference, however: YouTube's version of the Chess School app works as expected. Thanks to the ROKU moderator(s) and additional ROKU community to help me resolve Roku's Chess School app issue.
