Discontinued the Discovery+ channel due to new Privacy Policy. Tried to remove the channel from my lineup through the (*) menu, but channel defaults right back where it was. Then tried to Remove the channel, but no 'Remove' option was there, again, on the (*) menu. I'm paid up until July 30/24. Also could not sign-in to MyRoku account on my phone, where I've always successfully signed in before. Tried 7 times with just no response. Got in through my tablet. I see no point in keeping Roku Ultra 4800 device with all these problems!
If this channel is one for which you have a paid subscription through Roku, there will be a "Manage subscription" option instead of a "Remove channel" option. You can click this and follow the prompts to cancel your subscription and prevent any more payments, but your subscription and channel access will continue until your pre-paid subscription period runs out. Due to a programming decision by Roku, you will not be able to remove the channel app via the Roku interface until the subscription period runs out.
Instead, try removing the channel via the official Roku remote app on an Android/iOS phone/tablet connected to one of the Rokus on your account. At the bottom of the first screen, click Search and do a search for the installed channel name. On the resulting screen you should get options to Launch the channel on your Roku, or Remove the channel. I've never tried to remove a subscribed-thru-Roku channel (I haven't had one for years, and this may give you an idea of one reason why) but it's been reported this works even while the subscription is still active.
I’m having the same exact problem , the issue on my end is that my subscription isn’t active and there is still no remove option anywhere, it’s really starting to piss me off
Welcome to the Roku Community, @Ritual!
Thanks for letting us know about this. We'd like to share further information about this.
Firstly, do you have an active subscription prior to you attempting to remove this app? If so, it may be possible that even if you've already canceled this subscription it can't be removed until the valid through date.
You may check the valid through date of this subscription via the Roku website. After logging into your Roku account, select My Subscriptions.
We'll be looking forward to your update!
Best regards,
Carly
