Re: Block certain commercials

Hmm it doesn’t seem like you get what the other party is saying, BUT maybe they just weren’t being clear: while being on a pole is a great form of exercise, the context in which it was displayed is extremely in appropriate for kids to see. It was the CONTEXT in which it was shown in that’s the issue. Teenagers are one thing, but little kids do not need to see that because I would not want my 7 year old to see me when I’m on my pole. Hope that helps.

Re: Block certain commercials

Thank you. A mature, insightful and inlelligent response. Yes, no child needs to see adult themed activity nor ADS. After mind numbing repetition it’s clear there’s only one in this thread that really needs to find an alternate issue to try and enlighten others with their understanding or lack thereof on issues of potential tech options for better viewing. Have a great day all.

This is a mature response. Take your complaint to the proper area. Not here

Even if Roku implements some sort of commercial filtering how do you suppose they go about it? The commercial you speak of is not pornographic, it doesn’t promote drugs, there’s no language in it. The Fitbit commercial is not an R rated X rated commercial. It does not violate any of the FDC commercial rules. Before a commercial and put out in the public to see it Hass to go through the FCC. The commercial has 8 million views on YouTube and airs on Nationally public TV cross all the major networks. Obviously the FCC doesn’t have any problems with the commercial. How do you think Fitbit would feel if they know people on Roku for blocking a commercial? If the commercial featured naked men and women doing drugs then it violates the FCC regulations. Legally there is absolutely nothing wrong with the commercial. Certain people have a moral problem with it and that is their issue alone and not some thing for Roku or any other company to address. in order for the commercial to be blocked or filtered The FCC would have to give the commercial a rating. Such as the FCC would have to start rating ALL commercials. Then give them a G, PG, 14, R or MA rating. Then you could filter commercials according to those ratings. At this point there is NO way to do this and the FCC won’t be doing it. It’s amazing how people can whine and complain about a commercial they find offensive and think it’s Roku’s job to fix it. Then they don’t even have a clue on how to go about it. So for the 3 people who find it offensive how to propose Roku fix this? Come on let me hear your ideas. There is no Neilsen ratings for commercials

Re: Block certain commercials

@Ello2022 You completely miss the question and continue to put forth FCC info as if people are uninformed. The entire point is about if there is or will be options on different channels on Roku to select ads like some channels already provide option to do as the ads run while viewing family content are not age appropriate. Thanks for your efforts but they miss the point. Move on already. Lol

Re: Block certain commercials

@Wldrnss77  I did not miss the point whatsoever. You clearly do not realize how big of a project this would be. Roku cannot implement a way to filter commercials unless there is a rating system implemented by the FCC. You clearly do not understand how things work. I gave you an explanation of how they do. If there was a filtering system built into Roku to filter commercials how do you think it works? It would work off a Neilsen rating. So you go into settings and select G rated commercials only. Then that’s all you would see. But there is no rating system such as that. And the Fitbit commercial that you and others find offensive doesn’t fall under any sort of category. It’s not R rated. It’s not 14 rated. You don’t like the commercial based on your personal beliefs. That does not mean it’s violating the FCC rules. Therefore this thread is pointless. If you’re so smart how do you think Roku should go about filtering commercials? And you do realize the commercial is aired on national TV across all major networks. Obviously there isn’t anything wrong with the commercial if it’s air on national TV.

Do this. Google “What do I do if I find a commercial offensive”. You will be directed to the FCC. Not the Roku community

Re: Block certain commercials

@Wldrnss77  You obviously do not comprehend. I give you paragraphs and links to back up everything I say. Everything you need to know is on the FCC website. Do you think there’s some magical way that Roku can fix your personal beliefs. That won’t happen. Commercials do not have a Nielsen rating. So I ask you once again how would you go about filtering commercials? let me guess you’ll give me a two sentence reply. Then finish with an lol

Re: Block certain commercials

@Ello2022 🤣🤣🤣 I’ll start with a laugh and end with simple ad options. Available on many apps and channels. A round about way to avoid ads that may not be suitable for all age viewers. Not everyone needs to use lengthy, pointless paragraphs. Not all tech issues require contacting FCC. It’s not about rights in advertising but viewer options of available current ads to be in use. Again, available on many streaming channels but obviously not all. Good grief Sally. Move on already.

Re: Block certain commercials

@Wldrnss77  Once again please explain how Roku is supposed to filter commercials? Please do tell. Also explain to me what other channels at this current time offer commercial filtering based on the Neilsen ratings? Exactly which channels do you use that offer a commercial filtering system? I use Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max, PlutoTV, YouTube TV, Paramount+, Peacock, Disney+, Prime, NESN, ESPN, Redbox, Vudu and more. None of those have any sort of commercial filtering
