Re: Block certain commercials

Some people just don’t realize they have nothing to ad to a conversation but desperately try to “make” it so. M&A is understood, much more than to some.

Re: Block certain commercials

Agreed, was watching a religious themed movie with my children and there it was flamboyantly dancing ona pole dressed in drag.  Completely inappropriate and inexcusable for roku. I am one more commercial away from throwing this thing in the ? trash

Fix it @Roku

Re: Block certain commercials

@Iro  This has absolutely nothing to do with Roku. The Fitbit commercial you find offensive is also air on national television by CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox, USA, TNT and more. If they don’t Find the controversial offensive then obviously there’s nothing wrong with it. If the commercial is gangster personal believes that email Fitbit

Re: Block certain commercials

Not sure what contribution your reply really makes or you thought it would make but it doesn't. It is absolutely 100% the responsibility of roku to curate anything that airs on its channels even if it is aired my 1 million other networks. It's called personal responsibility and if customers demand it as obviously seen by this thread then something needs to be done about it. People like you are the reason we are in this situation with inappropriate content flooding all the services. Unless you have something more constructive and helpful good day to you.

Re: Block certain commercials

The problem with ads like these (whether or not you like them/don't like them, offended/not offended) is that you are captive to them when streaming AVOD content.

On regular TV, you can simply change the channel temporarily and then tune back in after the commercial has passed.  While streaming, a little more difficult because you have to actually exit the program and usually these ads will repeat more than once in a given program.

The only redress really is to let both Roku and BitFit know your grievances which users have been attempting to do in this thread.

@Ello2022 - I believe you have made your position clear by now with your responses and can spare the Roku Community further defense of this perceived freak show of an ad/commercial.  The users of Roku should be able to, and are welcome, to voice any concerns they have with programming and ads without harassment.  Make your contribution and move on.

Re: Block certain commercials

@AvsGunnarThis entire thread is pointless. It has zero to do with Roku. It everything to do with peoples personal beliefs. The commercial is made by Fitbit. Not Roku. So email Fibit and tell them to stop airing it. Or stop watching tv. Every commercial will offered someone in todays world

@Ello2022

You seem to fail to realize that the Roku Community is not your personal playground.  You do not determine which topics, or importance of topics, members should be or are allowed to address that is affecting their Roku experience.

If a topic is meaningless or pointless to you, then the rational default course of action should be to not engage in a thread.

Re: Block certain commercials

@AvsGunnar  This is a Roku community to discuss technical issues with Roku. It’s not a haven for Karen’s to preach their personal beliefs over a Fitbit commercial. I suggest that anyone finds this commercial offensive email Fitbit or join the Fitbit community and protest it there because technically this has nothing to do with everything to do with Fitbit and if you notice nobody from the Roku team has responded to this thread. Roku’s team has nothing to do with the Fitbit commercial that certain people find Offensive

Re: Block certain commercials

People inquired about if there was (or if Roku might have in the works for future use) an option for commercial choice due to inappropriate ads while watching family programs. That is a technical issue. Repeated and useless remarks from you adds nothing to this thread. You have no inside info on tech  or their R&D pertaining to possible ad choices. Move on. Good grief Sally

Re: Block certain commercials

@Wldrnss77  It’s not a technical issue. Then what about cable or satellite? There is nothing pornographic about the commercial. It’s not X rated. Roku doesn’t decide what you see nor can you choose what you see. It’s a Fitbit commercial aired on national tv across millions of users TV’s. The majority of the population is still on cable or satellite. I saw that commercial while watching Chicago Fire live on NBC. So I guess I should complain to NBC? You do realize that the FCC controls commercials don’t you? If the Fitbit commercial offends you the contact the FCC. Here is the link
