Apps on main screen sometimes distorted

On the Library screen I scroll down so that I can highlight a recorded show and all of the icons go totally distorted.  I then scroll back up to the Library screen and back down again and they distort again.  The only way I am able to rectify this is to exit out and log back in.  Then there is no video distortion for the programs I have recorded.  But this is time consuming.  Could it be the memory inside of the Roku device (Roku Premier) is going bad?  My device is about 4 years old.  Time to buy a new one, would that fix it?  And if I buy a new device (another Premier), will I have to reload all of my Streaming services which requires logging back in to each one?

Re: Apps on main screen sometimes distorted

What app are you using when this occurs?

If you do buy a new Roku, there's no guarantee that it would fix the problem if it's a problem with the app, but it is odd that getting out and back in fixes it.  That does make me think it's a Roku issue/bug.  Still, there's no guarantee that a new device would fix it.  If you link a device to the same Roku account as your old device you may have to log into your apps again, but they should all be automatically installed.  Some apps support SSO (single sign on), but I couldn't say which ones.

You might want to post a picture of the issue just in case someone at Roku wants to take a look into it.

Re: Apps on main screen sometimes distorted

Thanks for responding so quickly.

I should have mentioned that the only time I have this issue is with the YouTubeTV app when I go to my Library (of shows that I've recorded) and on the screen there are many "thumbnails that indicate which show has been recorded.  I then click on a thumbnail and the show opens up.  It's these thumbnails that sometimes, not always, get distorted.  But as I said before, the only fix is if I get out of YouTubeTV and come back in and there's no distortion at that point.  But, this does occur occasionally on another day or sometimes on the same day or night that I'm using YT-tv.  I have deleted the YT-tv app and reinstalled it but it still occasionally occurs again.  So that's why I'm wondering if it's the Roku receiver device.  Maybe not?
It just happened to me a few minutes ago so I have attached a screenshot of it.  You can't even tell what show the thumbnail is though.  This occurs on my HD Samsung tv and only with YT-tv.  This issue has never occured with any other app, such as Netflix or Prime Video.  And I have YT-tv on my computer and it has never occurred on it either.  So that's odd.
Anyways, there you have it.  I might just go out and buy a new Roku Premier device and see if it happens again.  Although I see the price on the device is now a whopping $45.  A few years ago I paid only $29.  We can blame that on Covid too :-).
Thanks for your help, much appreciated.

Re: Apps on main screen sometimes distorted

If you're thinking of trying a new device, you might want to check your offers at https://my.roku.com/offers.  There isn't a current "Premiere" device, but I saw a bunch of 3920s at Walmart on BF, so I guess they're still being sold.  The current "Express 4k+" (3941) would probably be a better choice and it's $40.  I always go to Roku's site to find the current models.  I assume they would be the best place to find that information. 🙂
