Apple TV “unable to connect to playback”

Apple TV and only Apple TV will not connect to play back episodes. It plays through the intro and prior episode update but then errors out saying there is a problem connecting to playback. Tapping troubleshooting results in nothing, trying again results in the same error. Unplugging and reconnecting the Roku does nothing. It is not my wifi as we can watch Apple TV on our laptop with no issues or errors.

anyone else seeing this?

thanks

Re: Apple TV “unable to connect to playback”

Hi @Richard6179,

Welcome to the Roku Community!

Have you tried to remove and reinstall the channel? This is a great way to start troubleshooting the channel and see if it helps. To ensure the process is successful, restart your Roku device before adding the channel back in. We recommend doing this from the Settings menu by navigating to Settings > System > Power > System restart. (If you do not see the power submenu, skip to the next step.)

For detailed instructions, refer to this Support link: How do I resolve channel playback issues?

Please keep us posted regarding the behavior you are experiencing, and we will be more than happy to continue assisting you further.

All the best,

Chel

Removing and adding the Apple TV app appears to have resolved the issue.
