Apple TV log in issues on Roku but working on iPad

I accepted the Roku Black Friday 3 months of Apple TV for free offer. I am using a Roku Ultra which is compatible with Apple TV. I set up the Apple TV and my subscription shows the free offer is active. However I can't watch anything on Apple TV. Everything says Renew Apple TV. I click on that option and sign into Apple TV again and it says I already have a subscription. I do not use Apple products. I do have a very old iPad Mini. I charged it and logged into Apple TV on it and everything works as it should. I contacted Roku support and was told I needed to download a Roku Mobile App from the Apple store. I found the app, but my older iPad is not compatible with the newer Roku app. I told the support agent that. I said that I used Android products. Support said I needed to download the Roku Mobile App from the Google Play. So I asked support that I needed to download an Android app to work and Apple product/service and was told yes that's correct.  However there is no Roku Mobile App on the Google Play Store that I can see. Anyone else  having this issue? Apple support is saying it's a Roku issue. I have unplugged my Roku, uninstalled and reinstalled the Apple TV app and every other support suggestion suggested.
