After doing all troubleshooting steps previously mentioned, I was tinkering with router wireless settings and activated WPS, which was previously "off". This seems to have made the difference in allowing my new cameras to fully connect.
Problem now solved for me. I wish all other new users good luck in resolving the "connection timed out" problem.
Indoor 360 camera, going through all the steps. Right next to router. Still will say, connection time out please rescan QR code. Every time. All my cameras are doing it. I have 3 in total
