anyone who comes across this post please check your account that roku has access to carefully and see what they have been stealing from you. My problem is I'm being charged multiple times a month when I only subscribe to one channel for a $4.99 monthly fee. Since I've chosen this subscription three months ago I have been charged 5 times, all were different amounts with a total of 11 attempts to withdraw money from my preferred payment method while my card was locked. I contacted customer service and informed them what was going on and the representative acted as though they couldn't see the charges or attempts on their end until I presented them with a screenshot of the entire log of activity on my account by them. They then acknowledged that it happened but had no explanation or apology for the fact that it happened and quicky said they would refund the amount that was over what the amount of my subscription was and ended the chat abruptly. That has not stopped several more attempts and another double dip into my account yet again this month. I budget my money very tightly and live paycheck to paycheck thanks to our wonderful government so I notice when even a $2.47 withdrawal is taken out of my account.
I'm wondering how many people this is happening to and how many people don't even notice...can you imagine the millions, if not more, Roku is stealing from their customers every month? This is insane that a business not only practices this type of shady thievery but gets away with it.
@BD69 I would suggest you login to your Roku account on a computer and set up a pin to make purchases. I have had a Roku account for many years and I have never had an unathorized charge on my account.
Also, keep in mind that you don't have to have a payment method on file with Roku. I signed up without one, then added one a few years later, then deleted it a few years after that. I never had any problems either way but I prefer not to have cards on file where I'm not actively using them.
And be careful not to create multiple Roku accounts. It's possible to have more accounts than Rokus and that has the possibility of confusion.
Also, recognize that any scammer that has somehow gotten hold of your CC info can call their bogus charges anything they like. The fact that it says it is a Roku charge does not necessarily indicate it came from Roku. Scammers claim their charges are from popular sources like Roku in the hope they will go unnoticed long enough to get a few months of payments before the victim takes action.
