Does Roku need to be region set?

I just had the same issue did a factory reset then deleted my roku account, signed up on another email account then logged into roku on Web first then logged into tv worked fine second time. I wasn't using a vpn at any stage

We appreciate the troubleshooting steps you took to resolve the issue.

May we know if you are successful in fixing this issue? If not, we recommend creating a new Roku account in the region where you are using the Roku TV or device and linking your TV to the new account. If you're located in the UK at the moment, the account you'll be creating will be automatically set to that region.
