Very old TV and new Ultra remote

I just got the Roku Ultra, but the remote isn’t compatible. I think my tv (Sony Bravia) is too old. There must be a workaround!

I ordered the new streaming stick, but it was damaged. The remote for the Stick could be programmed for my tv WITH voice control.

So there must be a way to get the Ultra to be compatible? Should I go back to the streaming stick? It’s a dealbreaker.

If the remote controls the Ultra and you're on the home screen do the following:

    settings> remote & devices> remote> remote in USE> program tv> follow the prompts

What happens when you try to set up the remote from the Ultra to control the TV?  If the remote for the stick works then the remote for the Ultra should work.

I don’t even know how to set it up.

The instructions led to a link about enabling cec or something. My tv is too old.

With the (broken) streaming stick 4K, setting up the tv was part of the startup. So it seems like it SHOULD be able to pair, even if some functionality doesn’t work.

      Any ideas? Thanks!
