Use quick launch button to turn on roku and go directly to app

I really thought at one point I could press one of the four quick launch buttons on the Roku remote (Hulu, Netflix, etc.) and it would turn on the Roku stick as well as then go directly to that app.

I hard reset everything, and now I have to turn on the Roku via power button first, and then I can press the quick launch button to open the app.  Has anyone else come across this?

Enable "1-touch play" via Roku menu path "Settings > System > Control other devices".

If the TV is powered all the way down, not just in a low power state that allows it to start up more quickly, then the Roku's "1-Touch play" can't start the TV up because the TV is all the way off and can't receive or respond to the command.

Thanks! If have my TV on a different source, and I press the Hulu button, for example, it works perfectly and goes directly to Hulu!
If the TV is completely off and I press Hulu is there any way to make that work as well?

llrok43, are you powering the stick from the TV's USB port?  If so, it won't work since the TV probably powers down the USB port when the TV is turned off.  If not, it should work.  Keep in mind that the power button on the remote is strictly for the TV.  The stick never powers down although it may have a "power saving" mode you can disable in under Settings->System->Power to see if it makes a difference.
