Unable to Bypass TV Volume Control Setup on Roku Streaming Stick+ with Projector

i recently purchased a "roku streaming stick plus" 4k.  i connected the stick to the hdmi slot of a toptro tp1 projector and i power the stick via the projector's usb port using the cable provided by roku.  i do not wish to control my tv volume (or tv anything) via the roku remote.  the initial setup steps went fine.  my problem during setup is that i cannot bypass roku's tv volume control screens.  i have clicked through the screens and i have performed the tasks as suggested in this forum, but when the screen gives up and tells me that it does not recognize my tv brand, i am stuck -- i cannot find some sort of forget-this-task option.  any ideas?  thank you

    Try resetting the stick with the button that should be on the edge or simply unplug the USB cable briefly.  See if once it reboots it goes to the Home Screen without bugging you about the TV controls.

    renojim:: i had already done those things you suggested -- with zero success.  but your response prompted me to try again with the idea to "do something/anything different".  the new thing i tried was i told the roku screen that i was connecting to one of the tv's that they had listed (which was a lie).  this started a new series of screens about hearing music, yes/no, etc.  i could not tell you what combination of yes's and no's did it, but i eventually got to some sort of let's-do-all-of-this-later option.  i clicked it, and i am now in control again.  although your specific idea did not work, THANK YOU for the inspiration to do it all just one more time !!  the key?  lie to roku about the brand of tv
