TV turns blank after the software update

My tv flashed that a software update was required. Afterward, the tv turns on but is blank. My phone roku remote app is showing my streaming stick is not available on this nextwork. Everything worked fine until this update. Yes I checked all FAQ suggestions and it still doesn't work. Dang. Seems to be obsolete now.

  • WTH was this update for ! seems many of us now can't use or streaming services. Nice going Roku because YES I have tried every thing to get it back online,  to no avail , not to mention the wasted time messing with it. Just ordered a fire stick. I am done with this mess.

In the same boat as DonewithRoku!.

Screen went blank out of nowhere. Did a factory reset- Had the no connection to internet message- rebooted that. Got it to work however only by using voice on the remote- the power button would not turn the product on or off. worked for an entire freaking day- now screen black again. It seems you have a serious issue here folks. And this is for my 87 year old mom- I live 90 minutes away! I cannot drop everything and come to attempt to fix this. TV is almost all she's got at this stage of her life. This product is only a year and a half old folks. How to fix this?

DHop Is this a Roku TV or a Roku device connected to a TV?  We need more information.  Roku devices do not turn off.  The power button is for a TV paired to the device

I’m having the same issue. Roku connects to my TV and asks me to select a Wi-Fi connection and my Wi-Fi password.  After receiving confirmation of a strong signal, Roku attempts a software update. The TV then says downloading, and then suddenly quits as if the Roku turns off and no longer works unless I reset the Roku stick. I’ve tried using my 2.4 and 5.0 GHz connections. I’ve also tried updating it using a signal from my hotspot on my laptop with a VPN on. The software update never finishes but simply turns off my Roku stick. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you.

Talkwithron, if you're using the TV's USB port to power the stick, try using the supplied power adapter.  It's not clear if you're always using a VPN, but if so, try disabling it or bypassing it.
