I just replaced a Streaming Stick + Model 3810X with a Streaming Stick 4K Model 3820R. The previous model connected instantly with the Dynex TV I have to control On/Off and Volume. Not only does the new one NOT automatically connect to the TV, but the model search database does not show ANY model TV. If I type in LG, I get the message cannot find TV band database. Nother else works either.
This is so disappointing as I only stream and have no need for the TV remote other than On/Off & Volume control.

tomscot2, this has been going on for some users for a while now. I think it's being looked into. At least one person reported that eventually the search started working. If you haven't completed the setup other than TV control then finish it and then check for updates under Settings->System->System update and restart your Roku from Settings->System->System restart. Try to set up the remote again from Settings->Remotes & devices->Remotes->Enhanced Voice Remote->Set up remote for TV control.

It turns out that I believe that the inability to access the TV Brand database was probably a function of very poor <1 mbs internet connection. I could stream, albeit with lower resolution, but not access the database,
When I moved the device to another location with higher download speed, it worked well.

This happened to me, too. Restarting my Roku in the system settings fixed the issue.

Do you guys happen to have pihole? I do, and I only managed to make this work by temporarily disabling pihole, then resetting the Roku (I used the reset button on the underside of my Roku Ultra). After doing that, I went to Settings->Remotes & devices->Remotes->Enhanced Voice Remote->Set up remote for TV control. and it recognized the TV right away.

I certainly hope Roku is trying to determine why a brand new Roku 4+ can not find any TV brand during the remote set up. Frankly, the entire set up process has been painful, first no remote pairing, rebooting, retrying…. At this point I would never, ever recommend a Roku. I’m going to reset to factory settings and try to get the TV and remote set up. But I’m resistant to due so because of all the initial pairing issues. If that doesn't work will try my phone hotspot. If that doesnt work, returning the Roku. Instead of making streaming easier, it’s just adding another level frustration.

I set up three Rokus in the last few days, on the same model of TV. On two of them, I was able to search/browse the list of TV brands. But on the third one, the list was empty, and search returned no results.
What didn't work: system update, settings -> advanced -> restart
What DID work: reset to factory settings, and start setup from scratch

When setting up remote to control volume and on/off, tv brands screen is blank and will not let me proceed. Have done a system reset with no solution.

davidallen0000, try connecting to your phone's hotspot to get through the setup and then switch back to your Wi-Fi afterwards.

I'm having the same problem with Vizio. My last Roku had no problem working with Vizio. THIS remote now is not pulling up ANY brands. I tried V, then I typed in I (for Insignia, since I just set up my old remote for an Insignia and it pulled up a number of brands). So, this remote is not seeing ANYthing. How to fix!!!

Exactly which model Roku do you have? More information will help

I am hooking up the Utra LT model, with voice activation remote. Apparently this is a 'gaming' remote, and not the one to control for volume or power on. I had an Ultra that I replaced and it was able to work with my Vizio tv; when moving the older Roku to the bedroom, I was able to reprogram THAT remote to the Insignia TV with no problem. I have come to the conclusion the remote sent to me with this model does not have capability to recognize ANY tv. I had switched networks; I had hooked it directly to my router via a wired connection; I tried to use a hotspot, to no avail. And I had also checked my TV settings; CEC is enabled.
