Stuck on “Let’s Get Started” Screen

A new Roku Express right out of the box is stuck on the “Let’s Get Started” screen. It won’t allow me to even select a language. I have tried on a different tv, using different hdmi cables in every hdmi port I have, I’ve tried 3 separate sets of batteries (all new), I’ve tried different power sources, and I’ve tried resetting multiple times. Nothing I do seems to make any progress. Any thoughts?

    Unless it's an Express 4k it comes with an IR remote meaning you must point the remote at the front of the Express.  The light on the front of the Express should flash with each press of a remote button.  You can verify whether the remote is working by using the camera in your phone.  Point the remote at the camera and you should see a flash of light on the camera screen when you press a button.  If you don't, you should probably return it.

      I see the red light and I’ve tried my other IR roku remote too that I know works

      renojim  Just a quick FYI:  The 4K+ (3941) comes with a WiFi Direct/Point Anywhere/Voice remote - the 4K (3940 - Walmart model) does not.

        Thanks for reaching out and providing me with your information.

        We recommend removing and reinserting the batteries of the remote then try unplugging your Roku TV for 10-15 minutes and then plugging it back in if this helps resolve or isolate the issue from the Roku device to the Roku remote.

  • I had the same problem, tried EVERYTHING suggested, finally I removed the power cord connected to the back of TV and turned it around. It worked. Mind you, the TV was powering on and stuck on lets get started before I did that. Works fine now.

  • The identical problem as stated is also happening to me. I used my camera to examine the remote, and when I click a button, I can see the IR light within the device. Also, I have made sure that the device is easily visible. My Roku Express is brand-new out of the package. Also, I've tried everything to reset it. Any assistance? 3930X model; S00830DED2SS serial number

      You probably just need to pair the remote with the roku. You can do that by either using the pair button on the back of the remote or by holding the home and large back arrow on the roku remote. Just do that right after resetting the roku.
