rremote and romote quit working.

I have third party remotes on my chromebook and computer. The offical roku remote is not downloadable for these two devices. Romote for the chromebook, RRemote for computer. On 12-14-24, both of these quit working. Has roku quit letting third party remotes work?

If so, need to make the roku remote compatable with chromebooks, computers.

  • Hi, EricRN

    Welcome!

The Roku mobile app is available for free download on mobile devices. This app includes features that turn your phone into a Roku remote, allowing you to control your Roku streaming device and manage apps.

To download, refer here: Roku Mobile App

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks,

RokuOS version 14.1.4 changed the Control by Mobile Apps setting, adding a new Limited setting and making it the default, thus breaking apps that use ECP/IP for remote control (e.g. rremote).

Change Settings/System/Advanced system settings/Control by mobile apps/Network access = Enabled
