Roku Ultra has intermittent green flashes

Has anyone ever gotten this issue solved by Roku support? The last post on this is two years old.

I don't see any fixes for this problem on this forum, just questions from Roku on model/serial numbers one is using.

There seems to be a correlation with Sony TVs and Dolby Vision use. Thanks!

      Thanks for your quick response!

The quick green flash happens on Max and maybe Hulu. I cannot anticipate when it will occur so it's practically impossible to photograph. I can describe it, though. A horizontal band flashes across the bottom 10% of the screen. That band is made up of squares in kind of a checkerboard pattern.

This does not happen when using the TV's built-in browser.

It started when I swapped out the HDMI cable supplied by Roku with a supposed high-end cable a few months ago. The flashing started at that time so I put the original Roku cable back in place, which resolved the issue until last week.

I've not tried any other troubleshooting yet but look forward to your recommendations.

      Thank you,
      Carl

  • If there is no pixilation when viewing video, and occurs when viewing tv, then it is local signal interference.

Other to consider is electrical rating is low to sustain its power requirement.

Hello. I think I've been very patient with this issue but feel I've been sent to Support Limbo.

I've had the Roku Ultra since January 2024 and it worked properly for two months. I have demonstrated within this thread that frequent flashing occurs only on some streaming networks but not others, on a Sony TV that is only a few years old. This is with the original HDMI cable as well as an equivalent hi-def one. I also provided the technical info you requested.

It's maddening to watch a movie or show with constant flashes as I wait for another response. Can't I just swap out this unit for a new one? Everything, including the packaging and remote, are in perfect condition.

Rather than wait, please permit me a replacement model!

      Thank you,

      Carl Russo

identical issues here - it happens on You tube as well. I don’t think it is all specific

i also agree it started about 6-8 months ago - it used to work perfectly

I suspect a software update along the way created the issue ?
