Roku starts into an app instead going to the Home Screen

I am reaching out regarding a recurring issue I’ve been experiencing with my Roku Ultra LT 2023 streaming devices. In 2024, I purchased three of these units, and two of them—the ones located in my basement—continue to display the same error message periodically.

All of my devices are connected using state of the art HDMI cables 4K,8K,10K and HDCP compatible. I’m also using a brand-new Onkyo AV Receiver and high-end Samsung TVs, so I am confident that the issue is not related to my setup or equipment quality.

I have contacted Roku Support multiple times about this matter, but unfortunately, the problem persists. The devices appear to be unstable at times, when I press the Home button on the Roku remote to turn on the TV, it launches directly into an app instead of displaying the Roku home screen.

Given the persistence of this issue across multiple devices, I believe it may be a product related problem that warrants further investigation. I would appreciate it if your team could review this case in detail and provide a lasting resolution.

    Welcome! Bark101

It appears your Roku Ultra LT is launching an app when you press the Home button on your remote. We'd like to investigate further—let's gather a few more details.

    • Is it always the same app that opens automatically, and which app?
    • Have you tried to turn on the TV using the power button of the remote?

In the meantime, you can try to use another remote or the Roku mobile app to turn on the TV.

Let us know when you can!
