Roku remote not working - flashing blue light

Our previously working Roku remote now won't work (after not being used for 3 months).  I've replaced the batteries, but when I press Home button on remote, it flashes blue and does nothing.  I've tried to re-pair, but pairing light flashes green but never pairs.  I've tried all recommendations (turned off power on Roku unit, removed batteries and replaced with new batteries, etc.)  I even tried power reset on Roku device.  Nothing works and pressing home button only causes flashing blue light.

What do I need to do now?  Is remote bad?  Please advise.

    I actually was able to get the remote to work today.  So, the problem is solved.  User error on my part.  Thanks!

    Additional detail on this problem -- TV screen never shows any pairing information.  So, pairing process I guess can never start?

      What's the model number of your Roku device written on it somewhere?
