Roku not connecting to Wi-Fi but can connect to Hotspot.

Hello Roku users,

I just had this issue with not being able to connect my 3 Roku devices wirelessly on 2.4ghz. now I have 3 computers and 3 phones connecting to the 2.4 no issues, it is just the Roku Units that are not connecting.

I am tethered from a hot spot on 2 of the Roku' and it is working no issues. my ISP is Xfinity and I did the following so far:

1. Reboot Router.

2. Restart Roku'

3. checked the password and reentered 5 times.

Having looked at the guides I read all of them that pertained to my issue and nothing has helped. I believe on 2 of the devices I get the 14.30 error. now I checked to see what it is and it states I am unable to connect.

I am unsure why therokus can connect to my hotspot but notto the Wireless 2,4 router? I am literlly 10-12feet from my roku from the Router. not sure but is was there a recent Roku update and maybe it is causing this issue??

if you need more info please let me know.

    Hey Roku users,

I figured out what the issue was. the security mode on the wireless was set too WPA3 I set it too WPA2 and voila it connected right away..

So check your Security mode and make sure it is on WPA 2.. thnx all 😉

Make sure the wireless mode in your Xfinity router is set to b/g/n and not g/n.  ISPs have a habit of changing settings in their customer's equipment.

I had not used my Roku for a week or so & it would not connect. It appeared to connect to my eero router but not to the Internet. Other devices could use the router fine. And the Roku could connect via my phones hotspot. The Roku device used to show up on my phone's eero app list of devices but it was no longer there.

I called eero support. They actually answer the phone! The CS rep was great and saw that the Roku device was "paused". Not sure how that happened. But she "unpaused" it and, Voila, everything worked again.

All support should be as good as eero's !

  • I just encountered the exact same issue. I was connected to wifi but apparently an update was pushed through that disconnect my wifi and now I am unable to reconnect. I have AT&T air, not Xfinity. Any suggestions?

      Thanks for reaching out, Winelover1!

We understand that your Roku device was disconnected after an update, and we'd like to know more.

Can you please share the latest software version of the Roku device so we can check it out? Also, do any error messages appear on the screen when trying to connect to the internet?

For the time being, can you try a Network Connection Reset on Roku? Then let us know if it works.

Important note: Please have your Wi-fi credentials ready before doing the steps, as you will need to set up your internet connection again.

Let us know if that works!

I’m having this issue, but wp2 is set. During set up, Roku connected to my network, then updated. Then no longer saw network.
