Roku Express 4K+ no connection

3 year old express 4k+ was working fine until a couple days ago. when i tried to turn on the device - which turns on the visio tv - i got a tv message that there is no device for that input. since i can turn the tv on via the express 4k+ remote there's obviously a connection. but i went through all the recommended steps and even tried a factory reset but no luck, same behavior. i assumed the unit was fried and bought another one. setup went fine (obviously there's a connection) including connection to wifi and software update. after the update i got the no device message again. i checked for roku outages but there don't seem to be any. any ideas?

Ok, all is well if a little weird. Since this Visio TV has only one 4K UHD slot I was using an Insignia switch box with a Blu ray player and the Roku plugged in. Tried the Blu ray player and it worked. (The Roku had a new HDMI cord). Switched to the Roku and it failed (I also tried the other switch box slots). Then took the output cord from the switch box and plugged it into the Roku. Didn't expect it but it worked. It no longer likes the switch box. I've only got so much time left in life so I'm not sweating it. Not using the DVD player much anyway.

    Hello mderning

We appreciate the troubleshooting steps you have taken to try to fix the connection issue of your Roku device.

Could you send us a photo of the TV screen showing the error message? Also, we'd like to know the current software version of your Roku device.

    We'll wait for your reply.
