Roku device and samsung smart tv

I have a roku steaming device (purchased around 2021) that I am trying to add to my Samsung smart tv (it's a few years old also) I get to the 'display type' and everything stops there. It gives options to choose 720p or 1080p. I choose 1080, it checks, then It says replies 'This HDMI connection can play video at resolutions up to 1080p.' So I choose 'Use automatic' (only other choice is to cancel)  It then says 'You didn't confirm the new selection, so previous setting restored'.  No matter how I choose, It goes back to the same option.  I've tried different HDMI cords but that does not matter.  Any ideas?  Thanks. Bev

    Thanks for reaching out, Snookums!

We understand you're having trouble setting up the display on your Roku, and we'd like to help.

Have you thought about doing a factory reset to restart the setup? If you haven't, it might be worth a shot to see if that clears things up.

Let us know if the issue persists so we can further assist!

This confuses me because it sounds like it is saying: all is well.  ie: you picked 1080p and the it says the TV can do 1080p.  So it sounds like everyone is in agreement that we'll do 1080p.  ??
