Roku app open ads when app is closed

I use the apps remote often and for some bizarre reason it can never seem to realize it's not open anymore because whenever I do anything such as

•turning off my alarm

•open a message

•pause media playing on my phone

It automatically clicks the play/pause button in the app and opens whatever ad is scrolling passed on my Screensaver and it's incredibly annoying because when I'm wanting to sleep in a bit more and i snooze my alarm, this glitch causes the app to open and ad and even downloads apps I do not want and they consistently open up and there's nobody else on the interent who seems to have this problem because I haven't seen any cases of this happening 

 

I will gladly take any theories as to why this glitch is happening and how to fix it because I cannot keep having random ads putting garbage apps on my TV waking me up when I want to sleep in just because the app can't recognize when it's closed.
