Roku app open ads when app is closed
I use the apps remote often and for some bizarre reason it can never seem to realize it's not open anymore because whenever I do anything such as •turning off my alarm •open a message •pause media playing on my phone It automatically clicks the play/pause button in the app and opens whatever ad is scrolling passed on my Screensaver and it's incredibly annoying because when I'm wanting to sleep in a bit more and i snooze my alarm, this glitch causes the app to open and ad and even downloads apps I do not want and they consistently open up and there's nobody else on the interent who seems to have this problem because I haven't seen any cases of this happening I will gladly take any theories as to why this glitch is happening and how to fix it because I cannot keep having random ads putting garbage apps on my TV waking me up when I want to sleep in just because the app can't recognize when it's closed.243Views0likes1CommentStreaming Stick4K and Voice Remote Setup Pairing Issue
I am having the same/similar issue!! But I have a Streaming Stick. Re: Re: Remote not working and re-pairing light does not come on I did all of the recommended troubleshooting suggestions from this community and through ROKU site for my voice remote but the remote still does not work and any attempt the re-pair is not working as the light does not come one/did not blink. Summary: Came home, TV was on home screen, remote not working. Any buttons I pressed, nothing happened. Will not turn on or off TV, nothing. I have a Streaming Stick 4K - just got in May 2024. I am using the USB power cable with long range wifi receiver built in to the cord which connects to the stick. I did all the trouble shooting: - Checked the batteries, and replaced them (reset remote) just in case - Checked my wireless connection (router is not the issue) - I do not have an HDMI extender in the event that there are problems with the remote due to "HDMI interference" but once I have all of the info I need (Device ID (don't have atm), serial ID# (X02500XWK08K), Model# (3820CA2), I can order one to see if that fixes the problem...in future. But that doesn't help me right now. - I rebooted my devices *** I did this several times. ONE TIME, when I went to re-pair the remote (after holding down home and back button on remote for 5 sec), the light blinked green for a moment... then nothing happened. I waited for the two to pair, but nothing. Still buttons don't work, remote not paired. Consecutive tries after repeating the process did not yield any light blinking...So... - I did a factory reset. The opening screen following the reset was to re-pair the remote but because the remote is not working, I cannot select the language or settings, etc for the next steps that they are asking. When I take the batteries out, put them back in and press the home and back button for 5 seconds, nothing happens. No lights blink. So the remote won't re-pair. Also...I cannot access the Device ID (don't have original packaging now). The Serial Number and Model number I found by downloading ROKU app and looking at my account and looking online where I bought the device. I cannot go to: Settings > System > About on my TV because the remote doesn't work! So, what do I do now? Is there something else I can try or do I need a new remote and if so, is it under warranty still? I registered it online May 09, 2024. Who do I contact to get a new remote - will warranty cover it through Roku or where do I buy a new one? Can you respond here but also to my private email so I do not miss a response? I will add, I also tried plugging in my stick to another HDMI port with the same results. This would be the second time since May 2024 that I have had to factory reset my Roku Streaming Stick 4K. The first time was not a remote issue. I thought it was a router issue and had a new one installed and an ethernet cable now runs from my TV to my router, so I am not sure why the remote isn't working (not connecting to the wifi?) and won't re-pair562Views0likes5CommentsNo headphone jack on the Roku Remote Pro 2nd Edition
What! No earbud jack in your new Roku Voice Remote Pro Second Edition . What's the point of that? Don't you guys realize how most people watch these days. So you've tried to solve the battery drain problem by taking away the poorly designed audio earbud transmission/energy use problem. I have a remote head set - an around the neck type - that syncs with every device I own except the Roku, and its battery lasts for over a week. It can last much longer if you remember to turn it off (yes, it has an on-off button - an advanced technology Roku should investigate!). So, Roku, you've taken one large step backwards with you new remote. I got an idea - go to your customer suggestion page and listen to your customers criticisms, especially on the battery problem. Or, better yet, just fix the removable battery door problem and go back to your old model.Solved9.5KViews24likes72CommentsRoku app just doesn't work
This problem started earlier this week. On my Roku app when using private listening the audio sounds choppy and randomly cuts out and the app won't connect to my devices that are on the same network unless I restart my phone and immediately open the Roku app. The TV works fine, the headphones work fine, my phone works fine, this problem is the app. And while using the YouTube app, ads will stop and not play and it's only on the YouTube app the audio issues happen2.3KViews0likes5CommentsMobile App randomly crashes when private listening
First off I’m annoyed there’s no direct way to report bugs to Roku. I’m using the Roku app on my iPhone 14, running iOS 18, but this was a problem with iOS 17 as well. The app is up to date, version 11.3.0.16034441.52. I’m using it with a Roku SoundBar and an Express. when using it for private listening it randomly crashes in the background. Then all of a sudden I don’t hear shutting. I have to relaunch the app and engage private listening again. Sometimes it won’t switch to private listening and I have to force quit the app and launch it again. I’m not looking for trouble shooting. There’s nothing to trouble shoot. I’m just reporting a bug. I’m sitting two feet from my WiFi router so that isn’t the issue. Also this forum software is telling me my post title needs to be 25 characters or more, which it is.677Views1like1CommentThe USB C connector on the RCB1r - model with no headphone jack- can you get audio from the USB port
I have a Roku ultra and ONN 32 inch TV. The Roku Ultra gives me Bluetooth sound to my Bluetooth headphones and earphones. The ONN 32 inch TV only appears to give me Bluetooth sound to speakers. I am mainly using the RCB1r Remote, which does not have a headphone jack. I also have the latest updated official Roku app on my iPhone. People have noted they miss the headphone jack on their old remotes. I have not tried this, so I am wondering if you have tried this: Plug USB C Enabled headphones into the RCB1r USB C jack and configure the mobile app in way similar to the old remote with the headphone jack built-in. My question is: Will you get sound out of the USB jack On the RCB1r (Remote Pro II) using a properly configured official Roku app on your phone? Please Let me know if you’ve tried this and your level of success. FranklinJ956Views0likes1CommentRoku TV can’t connect Bluetooth headphones to Roku app on HDMI outputs - is there a way around this?
I bought the 40" Class Select Series Full HD Smart RokuTV to replace my dead 43", however there is no headphone jack on this model. Also the Bluetooth headphone function on the app only works for home screen apps and the antenna but will automatically disable itself whenever I go to an HDMI output and use my PlayStation or laptop, which are the only two things I use the tv for. (There is also no headphone jack in the remote.) Does anyone know a good way around this? Or can recommend a non-expensive soundbar that plays nice with roku that has a headphone jack in it? This is a huge bummer as my neighbors cannot handle my tv speakers at all hours, and I'm disabled and hard of hearing and around the apt a lot so I spend a lot of time on my PlayStation and laptop. (A compatible third party soundbar with jack recommendation is preferred to a roku one, as they have made a tv that does less than previous generations and they already get to harvest all my data while they file patents to project ads through the hdmi outputs.)Solved2KViews0likes1CommentRoku remote changes volume to max on it own, unmutes on its own.
I have searched and anything I found is from back in 2023. Check my stick+ for updates, and it was last updated this past week. 1) This AM it has "randomly" started changing volume to maximum. While trying to diagnose it, also found that if muted, it will un-mute and go full volume. I had taking the batteries out of the remote and it the stick still does this. 2) If "ear buds" are plugged into the remote, then this behavior does not happen. Again, this just started this AM. Interesting thing -- we had this unit put up some weird message about video loss if one doesn't... , and I power cycled it and reported it only to get the standard answer about Roku does not charge.... That was not my question, so now my question again, has a LAN attack vector/surface been reported or seen with Roku being the intial target? Would/could this be an indication of such?1.2KViews1like3Comments
