Roku 2 Units Won't Turn On

I have two Roku 2 units. Both suddenly will not come on. When the home button is pushed to turn it on, the white indicator light flashes and stays on as long as the button is depressed, but nothing happens. The light goes out when the button is released. They are getting power and both are found when an attempt is made to use mirror screen from my phone, so there is internet connection. My Roku Express and a separate Roku TV are working fine. Help.

  • Update: Both are working fine now. Faulty HDMI cord on one. No idea what the problem was on the other one, but it is working again; so, I guess I'll just keep getting my money's worth for now. 😉 Thanks for your help everyone.

I have not tried that. Thanks. I'll try it and see what happens.

There are five different versions of "Roku 2". Four of them are no longer supported. Even the one that is still supported is 10 years old. We would need the model numbers of your players to determine which they are.

Frankly, you've gotten your moneys worth from them, and they should be replaced. More than likely you've had something within the hardware board finally fail. Any cost to repair would far exceed the cost of a replacement Roku, and your current players can't touch the performance of even the basic Express (model 3960) available now.

Hmm I never heard of Roku 2. My unit is just a little white box and it says Roku premiere on the packaging.

        Atomic77-

In your other current post you indicate you are a new user with a Roku Premiere, so you are likely to not have run into a Roku 2 model, which is 10 or more years old.  For that matter the most recent model under the "Premiere” name was released in 2019.

From the Roku home page, Settings > System > About will show you your model name and model number. The model number is important for differentiating between models under the same model name so you should mention it if you ever need to ask for support.
