[OS 11.5] Roku TV TCL Black Screen on display

"We have received reports that some customers with the above TV models are unable to see any display on their units following a software update.

We are currently investigating and working diligently with Roku to address this issue. There is no need to contact us. Updates will be posted on this page.

We apologize for the inconvenience."

Its TRUE right after the update my Roku 43S431 TV went dark. Spent the whole day trying to restore with no success. This is what happens when there is a BUG in the update software.  My other Roku TV model was not affected after the same update. Hopefully they come up with a fix. Its update 11.5.0 Build 4235

Probably the same thing I did when my 75" tcl S the bed.  Go shopping.  TCL doesn't care, roku doesn't care.  Bought an 85" Sony that runs Google TV.  VERY happy with it.  I'm writing off the other as a very expensive lesson learned to not buy **bleep** I never even heard of a few years ago

      Hi there Clouds

Thanks for reaching out here in Community.

Can you please provide us with more information regarding the issue you are experiencing? What Roku model device are you using? Are you able to hear audio or is it completely a black screen? How long has the issue been occurring?

Please keep us posted and we'll continue assisting you from there.

      Regards,
      Karla

  • My Roku tv is on a black screen and I can’t get the recovery screen to show up. I need help

  • My TCL Roku TV screen went black last night but I can still hear sound. I did the reset method and tried unplugging it and waiting 30 secs before plugging it back in. I can see that the screen is trying to turn on because there are extremely faint words on the screen but I can’t get into settings to try and increase the brightness. How do I fix this?

To everyone who has had this issue, they aren't going to help you. They will push you to the TV manufacturer and the manufacturer will tell you that you need to chuck your tv and go buy a new one. Pretty amazing and shows that Roku doesn't stand by their product or doesn't have any standards for their manufacturers to follow.

  • I have a 55in TCL Roku TV that was working fine but all of a sudden one day we went to turn it on to no avail. Screen is black but you can hear the clicking noises when we are trying to push buttons. Tried to reset it to no avail. Left unplugged and came back and still nothing.

  • When I went to turn on my tv on an afternoon for some reason it was playing the sound of me opening the tv and clicking around but I couldn't see what I was clicking. It has been a day now since the last time I was able to see the tv screen and looked up how to fixed the issues. I've tried unplugging the tv from the wall and also holding the reset button for 30 seconds but still have the same issue. I have even left it out overnight with it unplugged and still nothing. My Roku tv is a model: 55S423 and the rating is: 120v - 60Hz - 125W. If I could please get a follow up to this issue I would greatly appreciate it!

Absolutely same issue with my 55’’ Roku TCL tv. I tried every option in the thread and I have to s**k it up as hardware issue. 500$ tv coming for less than 4 years is such a shame. Neither me nor anyone I know will come near TCL or Roku tv anymore. Not worth the headache- cheap company !
