No more headphone jack on Roku Ultra's voice remote pro 2

Very disappointed that the remote included with the top-of-the-line Roku player does NOT have a headphone jack. Being able to plug headphones directly into the remote is a key feature that we use everyday to maintain sanity in our household. So now I'm supposed to pay another $30 to get a remote that still has the headphone jack. Bad move, Roku.

No, I don't want to have to use an app on my phone to use headphones!

  • I'm with you. I hate not having the headphone jack. I looked far and wide to find earbuds that are comfortable for my apparently ridiculously small ears, and finding out that I have to connect to Bluetooth and wear uncomfortable Bluetooth earbuds for hours, while my boyfriend sleeps, makes me like this a lot less. I don't care how slim it is, and it was worth the shorter battery life for me. Options are nice, and I don't see why Roku could not have given both.

Hey sunnyco, thanks for the feedback! πŸ™Œ

In the meantime, try using the Roku mobile app in Headphone Mode for a more personal audio experience:

      1. Open the Roku app
      2. Tap "Remote"
      3. Tap "Headphone" 🎧
      4. Adjust the volume and enjoy your content in peace!

To turn it off, just tap "Headphone" again.

Your feedback is important to us, and we're always here to help! Thanks again! πŸ’¬πŸ˜Š

I'll think twice when purchasing another Roku Player . Cost them very little to put in , Cheap, Cheap Cheap !

  • I really wanted the new remote, but the headphone feature is a must have for me... NO! I do not want blue tooth head set.

I would much prefer having to have batteries than this... Very undesired result. I want to older version of the pro, please... tell me where I can order...

  • My problem is we have the remote with headset Jack and it stopped working. Well it actually won't leave headset when you unplug it and now TV has no volume except through the headset jacket. This seems to be a worse situation than yours

      Hi, outragouset637

Thanks for sharing your concern about your Roku device, which has no volume after using headphone mode.

Just double-checking, when you unplug the headphones from the headphone jack of your Roku remote, the headphone logo will remain on your TV screen, correct? Also, we'd like to know if you're using a Roku TV or Roku streaming player.

In the meantime, we recommend you try to restart your system on your Roku device by navigating to Settings > Select System > Select Power. If you do not see a Power submenu, skip to the next step > Select System restart. For more tips, click here.

      Keep us posted.

Full factory setting reboot. Roku TV. Tried to put the headset in and out several times to see if it would release. Power reset. Went and bought a replacement remote without headset Jack so now I have lost that capability.

      That's terrible!

If the pro's advice doesn't work, a clumsy workaround while you're waiting for your new remote would be to tune to whatever you want to watch and then pop a battery from the remote. Popping the battery in and out whenever you want to do something would be a real pain, but at least you should get some volume from the TV.

I would much rather have batteries AND the headphone jack. Why does a remote need to be thinner? It’s not like anyone is going to be carrying it around everywhere like a phone

  • I'm lucky: my cheap Roku TV came with the old remote that has a headphone jack. I LOVE IT!

NO, I DO NOT WANT TO USE THE MOBILE APP WITH MY PHONE! Making that suggestion to me will just prove that nobody's reading these posts!

My only suggestion about this remote would be to offer it in COLORS so that it would stand out from all of the other black remotes on my coffee table!

    UP WITH HEADPHONE JACKS!

  • Seriously! I was excited about the new features they had for the new remote bit then they take out the best one? Definitely a bad move. Hopefully the add it back in the next remote they create. Its crazy it was removed in the first place. I dont want to have to sit and use my phone for the tv. Please! Bring it back!

I'm fairly certain the headphone jack was removed for one reason: people would leave their headphones connected and the remote batteries would be dead within a couple of days. People were always complaining about battery life when the headphone jack was used. It takes a lot of power to run the audio amp within the remote, and all people could see was the rapidly draining batteries. I don't blame Roku at all for removing it, just to get rid of those complaints.
